Hiunchuli Peak is located on the south face of Annapurna South (7,219m/23,684) and is one of the most preferred hiking peaks in the Anapurna region. The peak stands at a height of 6,441 meters/21,132 feet in between Mt. Machhapuchchhre (6,993m/22,943) and Annapurna South. There are two routes for Hiunchuli Peak Climbing: the South-East face route and the North-West route. The route of the southeast face starts from Hinko Cave on the Annapurna Sanctuary or Base Camp trail whereas the northwest face starts from the Annapurna Base Camp trekking trail. The North-West face route is considered a technical route and only a few climbers attempted the route. Nilgiri (7,061m/23,166ft), Lamjung Himal (6,983m/22,910ft), Tukuche peak (6,920m/22,703ft) and so on are visible clearly.
The peak climbing journey begins after a scenic drive from Kathmandu along the ‘City of Lakes’, Pokhara leading to Nayapul. The trek continues towards Poonhill to behold the opulent sunrise over towering mountains in the Annapurna region. The trail mostly ascends through icy rocks, glaciers, and steep slopes which requires an excellent level of fitness and prior climbing experience. The trekking through a narrow river valley up to the Annapurna Sanctuary and then towards the Hiunchuli Peak itself is a wonderful experience before the climbing adventure peak.
